YouTuber Leviathan has given two tips in a new video that could make you rethink your approach

Souls games are known for luring players into traps. Some of them are more obvious than others. If you believe the German YouTuber Leviathan, two basic game mechanics in Elden Ring are also among them. At least in certain situations.

In his latest video, Leviathan gives detailed tips on how to succeed in Elden Ring and prepares you for the enormously crunchy DLCShadow of the Erdtree. It’s all about the weak points of many enemies and certain items that are a great help. But it’s also about the factthat rolling and aiming aren’t as good as many people probably think

Two fake mechanic friends

Targeting opponents and rolling away in time is part of the tools of the trade for many in every Soulslike from Fromsoftware. And you will most likely be able to master Elden Ring with it. As Leviathan explains, you should nevertheless remain open to alternatives. According to the expert, vehement rolling and basic aiming in particular can make your life more difficult

The problems with dodging

Dodge rolls remain a helpful maneuver, of course, but there are attacks in the game that are either very difficult to dodge or make it nearly impossible. According to Leviathan, many area attacks in particular are difficult to evade with the classic roll. So instead of relying solely on rolling, you should use jumps more often.

When jumping, only the lower part of your body is immune to damage, but this immunity starts faster and stays active longer than when rolling. In this case, your timing does not have to be as precise as with some rolls. But be careful not to jump when an attack comes from above

The problem with aiming

In order to keep an eye on enemies, you are taught to switch on in every Souls game. Just press a button and you will no longer lose sight of them. However, you can then only move in relation to the targeted enemy. According to Leviathan, this restricts your movement options. Often, removing this lock-on can even throw the enemy completely off balance or make it much easier to dodge certain maneuvers.

In addition to these two great tips, Leviathan also provides numerous other tips in his video. For example, he shows very impressively how huge the advantages of certain damage types are against vulnerable opponents. And also how you can take certain damage much better with resistances – without thick armor at all.
