EAGate scandal – professionals no longer get an unfair advantage in FIFA 22

No more advantages for pros in FIFA 22 – that’s what EA has decided now. But with this the community will be deprived of something that could cause a lot of hype and joy.

Have you ever experienced this moment in FIFA 21? You start into a match and get to see the team of the opponent. And suddenly there it is: the green card of a player with a 99 overall rating. This card means that you are playing against a real professional footballer. This is exactly what should no longer be possible in FIFA 22.

All cards that professional footballers will have in their club are from FIFA 22 either from the transfer market or from the packs. The packs from the shop will still get a preview in many cases.

No more 99 player card for pros

“RIP to all professional footballers”, this is how the tweet by Wehen-Wiesbaden professional Sascha Mockenhaupt began. In a tweet, the centre-back shared a chat history with EASPORTSFIFA, wherein Sascha is given a cancellation for his Pro Player Card.

According to the chat history, there will be no more free cards for people who are not contractual partners of EA. So that means Pro Player Cards are also off the table.

What is a Pro Player Card?

A Pro Player Card is a unique special card with a total rating of 99 points. This is only awarded to professional footballers who are included in the football simulation’s player database.

When you look at the map, you understand a large part of the community that is against this advantage for professional footballers. But: Only with such cards, for example, players like Sascha can also integrate their own card into their own team and remain competitive at the same time. And only then do players realise that they are playing against a pro.

No more advantages for professionals

The answer to the EAGate scandal is therefore to abolish benefits for professional footballers. This also means that there will be no free top cards like Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé or icons like Gullit and Pélé.

After the scandal, it’s understandable that the publisher wants to play it safe. Still, we’ll miss the hype when we realise that a world star like Neymar or Mbappé is sitting on the other side of the server right now, sweating it out for 90 minutes.
