Lazio Rom gets a new name in FIFA 22. The reason for this is the missing licence, which belongs to the competitor Konami with eFootball. FIFA fans will have to get used to the new spelling first.
Lazio Rome becomes “Latium”. The new name of the traditional Italian club in FIFA 22 seems strange at first sight, but it makes comparative sense for the logic of EA Sports.
In the beta information of FIFA 22 the name Lazio appears and is the new name of Lazio Roma. This is reported by the news site Realsport 101 among others. There are in-game images on Twitter that indicate the name change.
Lazio is the region around the Italian capital and falls into the grid of developer EA Sports. Because already the renaming of Juventus Turin to Piemonte Calcio is based on the region of the city and is common since FIFA 20.

Also receiving a name change is Atalanta Bergamo. The third-placed Serie A side, like the other clubs, is untethered from FIFA due to its exclusive partnership with Konami. The name in FIFA 22 will be Bergamo Calcio.
City rival AS Roma is already known as Roma FC. The clubs will be shown without official club crests and kits in FIFA 22.
