We already knew that FIFA will no longer be called FIFA but EA Sports FC. But now the new era has been officially ushered in with the announcement of EA Sports FC 24. The football game takes FIFA’s place in Electronic Arts’ release schedule and continues the series under a new name.
But apparently not only the name will change. Because the first trailer also presents itself quite a bit different than what you are used to from FIFA and has a lot more focus on diversity You can watch the trailer right here. It was created in the Frostbite engine, but it doesn’t show any real gameplay yet.

With the new name EA also breaks with a tradition of many years. Because at the same time as the first trailer, the cover of the Ultimate Edition was also revealed and, unlike in the past, there is no real picture of a single football star on it.
Neither Messi, nor Ronaldo, nor Mbappé is in the spotlight this time. Instead, the cover of FC 24 shows a multitude of players who are also CGI. Among them are also many legends, such as Rudi Völler or Andrea Pirlo:
What else was revealed?
EA is silent about the exact gameplay in the announcement. We strongly suspect that there will be two goals and a ball again. But seriously, nothing is known about the innovations of FC24 yet. However, real gameplay will be presented at least in a few days.
On 13 July 2023, another trailer is to be released, showing real gameplay for the first time. Apart from that, we still know that although FIFA is no longer on the box, there is still a lot of FIFA in it. At least in terms of licences EA can still draw from the full, thanks to contracts with the Premier League, the Champions League, the Bundesliga, the Serie A and many, many more.
In addition, FC24 is supposed to be a lot about … triangles. Because the triangle has always been an important component in real football as well as in FIFA. Sometimes as tactics, sometimes as polygons.
