EA Sports is changing the competition in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team. FUT Champions Play-Offs and Finals have more flexible times and instant rewards unlike the old familiar Weekend League.
When the Weekend League becomes more of a weekly league: FIFA 22 Ultimate Team sees a drastic change to the FUT Champions competition. EA Sports officially confirmed this in the Pitch Notes on Tuesday. Instead of giving everything on a long weekend from Friday to Sunday up to 30 matches, the reward-heavy mode will in future be spread over the Play-Offs and then the Finals.
The FUT Champions will be extended over the entire week with the new system. As such, there will be a longer period for players to battle through the Play-Offs and qualify for the Finals during the weekdays.

Overall, the aim is to reduce the number of matches and the time-consuming stress for the players. At the same time, the longer time to participate in the competition gives more options for FUT enthusiasts to customise their scheduling.
In FIFA 22 FUT Champions, there is a points-based system. This means that it should not solely depend on a high number of wins, as has been the case in recent years. “You progress even when you lose,” EA Sports writes in the pitch notes.
In order to initially participate in the FUT Champions Play-Offs, players must continue to qualify via the Rivals division. There, points are collected in order to be invited to the play-offs if the number is sufficient. You can decide for yourself when you want to take part in the competition.
Each FUT Season lasts about six weeks. During this time, the Champions Play-Offs can be played, before the rewards are distributed at the end of each participating play-off. Waiting for the free bonus content thus seems to be off the table for the first time.
Players who score enough points will receive a Finals Qualification Token, which will allow them to join the Champions Finals. Even if you don’t make it to the Finals, you can still participate in the Play-Offs – once you qualify again via Division Rivals.
The Champions Finals always take place on weekends and are at the time of the original Weekend League in FIFA 21. The participation in the Finals is limited per season. As soon as all matches have been completed, the rewards will be awarded directly.
