EA has announced the nominations for the TOTY in FIFA 23. There are some surprises among the 100 players.
This week sees the start of the annual Team of the Year voting in FIFA 23, an event where fans vote for the best players of the year, who are then given special high value cards in Ultimate Team mode.
We show you which 100 players are nominated, which surprises there were and how you can take part in the voting for the TOTY.
Many surprises in the FIFA 23 TOTY
The Team of the Year is considered the highest of emotions for FUT players, as it gives you the chance to draw the best footballers of the past year from the pack of cards in an extremely strong version.
However, many fans may be surprised by the list of nominees, as many familiar names that FIFA professionals had firmly expected to see are missing here. These include:
- Antonio Rudiger (Real Madrid)
- David Alaba (Real Madrid)
- Manuel Neuer (FC Bayern Munich)
- Cristiano Ronaldo (Al-Nassr FC)
The absence of Ronaldo in particular is likely to cause much discussion. The Portuguese has a huge fan base internationally. Although he only recorded a total of 20 scorer points for Manchester United in 2022, this figure is still higher than other nominees from the attacker category.
How to vote in the TOTY
From 10 January at 5pm you can vote on which players you think should make the Team of the Year – either because they’ve had a strong year or because you’d like to see a stronger version of their card.
All you have to do is go to the (TOTY page of EA Sports FIFA) and you can make your choice there once the voting has been unlocked.
