The fans of FIFA 23 Ultimate Team (FUT) still have to wait for the FUT Birthday, EA SPORTS provides a premiere on Friday with FUT Ballers instead.
It almost seems like an act of defiance to the large-scale and mostly accurate leaks of the past months that EA SPORTS pulls a surprise out of the hat on Friday evening (17.03.). While almost all fans had expected the 14th FUT Birthday, the current loading screen announces the brand new promo FUT Ballers.
Since FUT Ballers is a FIFA premiere, reliable information is still extremely rare. However, the reliable leaker FUT Sheriff already wants to know that the event will not bring any special cards for the packs – FUT Ballers objects are to be exclusively via Objectives or SBCs to get into your own club.
Five-star skills?99 basic values?
In English slang, “ballers” are often footballers who boast special technical skills. This suggests that some of the greatest performers on the ball could be given special cards – possibly including an upgrade to five stars for skill moves.
Another theory is that the FUT Ballers items will each be given a base value that will or can be upgraded to a maximum of 99 points – similar to the Numbers Up promo in FIFA 22. But which players will be part of the FUT Ballers promo? The number of reliable leaks are even thinner in this regard.
Premier League trio already leaked
Three Premier League professionals are unofficially confirmed: Mason Mount of Chelsea FC is to be unlocked as a FUT Baller via SBC, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain of Liverpool FC and Arnaut Danjuma of Tottenham Hotspur are also expected to receive a special card. Beyond these names, the FUT community is limited to wishes and vague predictions for now.
While no FUT Ballers items are expected to make it into the packs, some fans speculate that EA SPORTS could re-release old special cards like they did for the Showdown event.

Fans probably don’t have to worry about the popular FUT Birthday promo, the developer has never suspended it. The presumed approach to FUT Ballers with no objects in the packs suggests that the new event could be some sort of gap filler for the week between Fantasy FUT and FUT Birthday.
Card design already meets with approval
The card design for FUT Ballers has already been positively received (as always): The majority of the community seems to like the colour concept with magenta and light blue tones. An absolute promo highlight is not to be expected in terms of content shortly before FUT Birthday, but the one or other useful special card could still be released.
