HyperMotion2 technology, skill moves, power shots and more were introduced to FIFA 23. We summarise the most important innovations for you.

On 30 September 2022 the last EA Sports offshoot with the name FIFA 23 will be released. From next year, the title will be called EA Sports FC. On 27 July 2022 EA Sports published a YouTube video of the FIFA 23 gameplay. We show you how the gameplay in FIFA 23 has developed.

Technical dribbling through HyperMotion2 technology

In FIFA 23 the normal dribbling with the left stick should already feel different. Due to HM2 technology, dribbling is smoother and direction changes become authentic through realistic animations. In addition, the football stars have their own personal touch in their movements.

But this feature should not be too strong, because the optimal counter is called ML-Jockey.

ML-Jockey on the defensive

In FIFA 22 and now also in FIFA 23 Machine Learning (ML) plays a big role. This also applies to the jockey movement. The CPU learns the movements of the opponent in the game and moves accordingly more intelligently on the pitch.

AcceleRATE – Three Archetypes

In FIFA 23 there are three types of attack: Explosive, Controlled and Long.

The long type belongs to the big and physically strong players who can’t accelerate quickly but still reach a high speed.

The explosive type convinces with fast movements and can surprise the opposing team. We already know explosive sprints from FIFA 22.

The controlled type moves somewhere in between and is simply solid.

Power Shots in the Offense

In FIFA 23, we get a shooting mechanic that is supposed to be high-risk, but also rewards you for doing it correctly. Sounds a bit like timed finishing at the moment, but works differently. There will be a guide from our side as soon as we can.

Penalty Shootout
The penalty shoot-out has been completely renewed. The aiming should be more intuitive and depend more on the right timing. A pulsating mark on the ball shows you the right time to take the shot. But beware! The more insecure the executors are, the faster the marker pulsates.

Free kick

The airlines are back! In FIFA 23 you can use your left stick to mark the direction and your right stick to mark the spot on the ball you want to hit.

In defence you now get the option to put a player behind the wall to jump with the wall and still be able to defend low shots.

Defence

The counterpart to the Power Shot could be the Power Straddle. This feature gives you the ability to straddle the ball out of the stadium.

Goalkeepers

With the new animations, the goalkeepers are more stable and less likely to fly over uncontrollably. The behaviour of the goalkeeper looks more realistic.

In addition, small details have been refined, such as the finger movement after the ball has been parried. The fingers do not simply remain stiff, but give way and thus ensure realistic behaviour. By the way, this also applies to all other figures on the pitch and other body parts, such as legs and feet.

Skill Moves

Long awaited and finally integrated: Players with a strong left foot now also perform their skill moves with their left foot.

Heel fake to ball roll is a skill move that looks really great. The player plays the ball with the heel and then takes it directly with a ball roll. In execution, this trick is very similar to the Heel-to-Heel.

Some new features were introduced in this Deep Dive video of FIFA 23 and we are already looking forward to create guides to the different topics. So be sure to keep our FIFA page
