Shop error: EA sold the new FIFA 23 for 6 cents by mistake

Because of a shop error some lucky people could get the bargain of the year with FIFA 23 – and EA reacts sportive.

Before you shake out your wallet to empty a few cents, an old button and an expired deposit coupon on the table: We’re sorry to disappoint you – FIFA 23 was only available to buy for 6 measly cents during a very, very short window of opportunity. But a few lucky people in India took the chance and scored the bargain of the year with the new FIFA 23.

Even EA Sports humorously admits to the own goal – and reacts sportingly to the shop error.

FIFA 23 for 6 cents? What was going on there?

In the Epic Store, there was apparently a technical error that briefly led to FIFA 23 being offered at a ridiculously low price: for 5 Indian rupees, which is about 6 cents. So people could shoot for the price of a Steam trading card a triple-A product that normally costs 70 euros in the cheapest variant. Can do.

EA reacts sporty

EA and Epic have of course quickly recognised the shop error and fixed it, but some lucky people had already grabbed it … and may also keep their game. The EA Sports team has sent a tongue-in-cheek message to all those affected – including a football pun:

Hi, a few weeks ago we scored ourselves a pretty spectacular own goal and accidentally offered FIFA 23 at an incorrect pre-order price on the Epic Games Store. The fault clearly lies with us here – and we acknowledge all purchases made at this discounted price

It would probably have been contractually difficult to declare the purchases invalid anyway, but hey: Still a nice gesture on EA’s part, because the lucky ones can then start gambling with peace of mind. By the way, FIFA 23 will be released on 26 September 2022 – you can find all important innovations in our FIFA 23 overview.

Have you ever had a similar stroke of luck? Got hold of a game at a great price because of a mistake? Not us. Unfortunately.
