Sony Interactive Entertainment officially unveiled the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection yesterday. The company is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the PlayStation with this collection. It honors the success story of the legendary console, which first appeared in Japan on December 3, 1994, by bringing the nostalgic design of the original PlayStation back into the modern gaming world. Fans can look forward to a limited edition of PlayStation 5 hardware and matching accessories in the classic PlayStation look.
The PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection combines the retro style of the original PlayStation console with the latest PS5 technology. The PlayStation 5 Digital Edition and the PS5 Pro are available for purchase in the iconic look and color scheme of the original console.
In addition to the consoles, accessories in the anniversary style are also offered. These include the DualSense wireless controller, the DualSense Edge wireless controller, the DualSense charging station and the PlayStation Portal remote player, all in a striking retro design.
Limited availability and exclusive collectibles.
The PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection will be available from November 21, 2024, with availability strictly limited. In particular, the PlayStation 5 Pro 30th Anniversary Limited Edition console will only sell 12,300 units worldwide, referencing the date of the first PlayStation release. Each console will have an engraved serial number that highlights its exclusivity.
The limited editions of the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection not only include the hardware itself, but also exclusive collectibles. Buyers can look forward to collectibles such as a PlayStation poster, PlayStation controller-inspired cable ties, and a special PlayStation paper clip.
Pre-orders and availability
Starting on September 26, 2024, players with a PlayStation Network account will be able to pre-order the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection products on the official website. For those in regions where PlayStation Network is not available, pre-orders at select retailers will begin on the same date.
For the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition, pre-orders will begin at participating retailers on October 10, 2024. Accessories, including the limited-edition DualSense wireless controllers, will also be available to pre-order from September 26, 2024.
