12 million players simultaneously attended the Travis Scott live concert in Fortnite – a new record. But Epic is not only focusing on entertainment, it also announces the next multi-million dollar tournament: The FNCS. The winners will be awarded a rare golden pickaxe.
Two million dollars prize money for FNCS
Epic Games announced the next Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) – with a prize pool of two million US dollars. The open qualifying rounds will begin on May 2. In addition, the top 100 players from previous series will be invited to participate.
Thus, on the one hand, casual players will have the opportunity to participate in the tournament. On the other hand, top professionals such as world champion Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf or the current North American champion Shane “EpikWhale” Cotton will also compete.
The FNCS Invitational starts May 2nd, 2020 through the rest of the season. Competitors will have an opportunity to qualify to compete against the best of the best from past FNCS Grand Finals for their share of the $2 million prize pool.

Status symbol: Rare pickaxe skin for champions
If you see a user in Fortnite in the next few weeks who swings a golden pickaxe with the FNCS logo – run away, because you probably don’t stand a chance.
The golden pickaxe wearer is one of the current champions in Fortnite and is one of the elite of 28 of the best players in the world.
The rare pickaxe is only awarded to the winners of the current FNCS, but the rumbled sceptre does not adorn the champions forever: as soon as the next FNCS has found its new champions, the pickaxe skins are passed on to the next champions.

You can meet four of the champions on the European servers. The French Alexandre “Andilex” Christophe and Nathan “nayte” Berquignol won the FNCS on the PC. The still unknown players Laizen and Sloww won the trophy on the console.
Fortnite breaks record with Travis Scott Astronomical
The probability of seeing one of the rare pickaxe skins in the game is very low. This becomes even clearer when you realize the gigantic number of players.
On Sunday, US rapper Travis Scott gave a virtual concert at the Battle Royale. Already last year Fortnite organized the first digital concert in the game, where DJ Marshmello played.
But the Travis Scott special broke player records. According to developer Epic Games, over 12.3 million users came to the digital appearance of the megastar – a new record for Fortnite.
Over 12.3 million concurrent players participated live in Travis Scott's Astronomical, an all-time record!
