In February 2024, you can look forward to the next update for Rust, which will add a convenient feature to the survival game
Rust is without a doubt one of the most successful survival games on Steam. It is already celebrating its tenth anniversary and yet the developers at Facepunch Studios have no intention of stopping further development. In the course of this, they have published a roadmap for 2024 and one thing can be said, the game will be much more comfortable at the beginning of the year.
The roadmap for 2024 at a glance
The first update to the roadmap is due to be released on February 1, 2024 and will add backpacks to Rust. This may sound like a small change at first, but it makes the game much more convenient, as the inventory is currently very limited. This gives you much more freedom of action and saves a lot of time
But of course that’s not all. Here you can see other announced innovations that are planned for 2024, but do not yet have an exact release date:
- Motorcycles
- New and revised monuments
- Revised tutorial
- New weapons
- More unique buildable areas (for example canyons and lakes)
- Reworked user interface (UI) for server lists
If you need a change of pace, the car survival game Pacific Drive might be something for you. It will be released on February 22nd for PC and PS5. You can see the trailer here:
Further plans for the future
The developers also note that other small things are planned for this year, but these are still secret. Beyond 2024, they want to revise the ports so that transport ships can dock there, for example. The tactical advantage of buildings built in the water is also to be reduced in the future. Performance is also being improved. However, this is an ongoing process and is therefore happening step by step
But there is also bad news: As some people already know, work has been going on for several months to introduce pets, but this was put on hold some time ago. Nothing will change for the time being and a release in 2024 is out of the question
However, the developers note that they are not losing sight of the project and it may see the light of day at a later date.
What do you think of the 2024 roadmap for Rust? Have you been wishing for backpacks or a similar feature for a long time? Which new feature are you most excited about? What would you like to see from Rust in the next ten years? What do you dislike about the game? We’d love to hear your opinion, so feel free to write it in the comments!
