The survival game Enshrouded is popular, among other things, for its versatile construction system. Fans have now joined forces to recreate a famous place from Tolkien’s fantasy world in the game world.

A gigantic cyberpunk casino or the whole of New York: when it comes to absurdly elaborate construction projects, Minecraft is actually the absolute frontrunner. But the comparatively young survival game Enshrouded also has particularly motivated fans:

Together with the German YouTuber Kontreck, a group of players has recreated thedwarf city in Mount Erebor from Tolkien’s book The Hobbitas it appeared in Peter Jackson’s films.

Hard-working miners

Like the dwarves of Middle-earth, fans had to dig deep and long to achieve their goal. After all, Erebor lies under the mountain of the same name, and the building materials for the gigantic project had to be procured first.

The 33 dwarf builders toiled for a total of 10,000 hours and mined 220 million blocks. Fortunately, Kontreck and his group did not awaken any Balrogs in the process (they are also sleeping under Moria).

The impressive result is a city that spans over 15 million blocks. A video by the YouTuber shows what it looks like:

Erebor is not Kontreck’s first huge project: He and Enshrouded fans previously built Minas Tirith, the capital of Gondor from Lord of the Rings. A similarly impressive structure, as the video shows.

How is something like this possible
? Similar to Minecraft, Enshrouded also has a modular building system based on small blocks. You can build walls, doors and windows out of different materials and customize them in great detail. There are also lots of decorations and ornaments in the building menu. This way, you can recreate almost anything that fits into a medieval or fantasy world – as long as it’s not round.
