$18 Million – Blizzard Pays Compensation to Victims

Blizzard agrees to pay 18 million US dollars in a legal case concerning discrimination and sexism. The sum is primarily intended to compensate affected individuals.

Activision Blizzard and the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) agreed on Monday to a settlement of 18 million US dollars in a legal dispute over discrimination and sexism. The money will be used to make amends and compensate affected individuals.

Settlement requires court approval

The US company also agreed to improve conditions for employees by implementing anti-harassment and anti-discrimination programmes in-house. Activision Blizzard commented at length in a statement on Monday. The settlement between the two parties is still subject to court approval.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission had filed a lawsuit against Activision Blizzard in July this year. This was preceded by a two-year investigation, which according to the US authority had been initiated because of sexist and discriminatory behaviour towards women within the company.
