Watch out, insider tips: We’re showing you five new games on Steam that you’ve probably overlooked

Who has the time to record all game releases? On Steam alone, a bunch of new games are released every day, very few of which come with big advertising budgets. To make sure you don’t miss out on small games that are popular with users, we present five inconspicuous titles every week.

This time, we’ve got pirate action of the sweaty variety, the dream of building your own dungeon and tactical battles galore. So there should be something for many tastes

Quickly to the game (table of contents)

  1. Blazing Sails
  2. Naheulbeuk’s Dungeon Master
  3. Backpack Hero
  4. Racine
  5. Cobalt Core

Blazing Sails

(Genre: Battle Royale – Steam-Release: November 13, 2023 – Price: 14,79 Euro)

Pirates feel like they’ve already been in every sea, but a battle royale hasn’t come up that often. Blazing Sails wants to change that. You set off with friends in co-op and your own ship and fight sea battles with other players. Boarding, sabre duels, cannon fights, it’s all there

Naheulbeuk’s Dungeon Master

(Genre: Construction & Management – Steam-Release: November 15, 2023 – Price: 24,99 Euro)

As an obedient minion of a powerful wizard, you must build and operate a tower in Naheulbeuk’s Dungeon Master s Dungeon Master. It will serve as a dungeon and needs to be constantly expanded and maintained.

You also need staff to do all the hard work for you. And the minions also need to be looked after, otherwise they will go on strike or get up to other mischief. You must also always exercise caution – against the whims of your master, the wizard. The game is spiced up with a heavy dose of satirical humor

Backpack Hero

(Genre: Roguelike-Tactics – Steam-Release: November 14, 2023 – Price: 18,99 Euro)

Every human carries their own backpack around with them. Mice do too, by the way, as Backpack Hero proves. As a cute rodent, you have to explore gloomy dungeons and spit on baddies.

You get loot in return, which you can take with you in your growing backpack. This is also where you organize the weapons and other items you use, so that Inventory-Tetris is really the central game mechanic here. Since it is roguelike through and through, you will often lose at the beginning, but will become more powerful over time.

Racine

(Genre: Roguelike-Tactics – Steam-Release: November 6, 2023 – Price: 9,99 Euro)

Roguelike, the second  Racine is noticeably inspired by the genre hit Slay the Spire. In one half of the screen, battles take place against increasingly stronger opponents, while in the other you choose cards that represent attack, defense and other abilities.

The trick is to recognize your opponents’ actions in advance and take appropriate countermeasures. Racine is therefore a very tactical game. The graphic style also has a very special touch of its own, as you can see in the trailer

Cobalt Core

(Genre: Roguelike-Tactics – Steam-Release: November 8, 2023 – Price: 19,50 Euro)

Another Roguelike? Really now, Just? Indeed! Steam seems to be teeming with them, and they’re popular new releases, in this case extremely  popular. Around 770 players rate Cobalt Core on Steam as 97 percent positive.

Don’t let the cutesy style put you off straight away. The gameplay looks a lot less squeaky. And it’s tactically challenging when you’re fighting space battles, with Slay the Spire style maps and the like, of course.
