Even the developer is surprised: Lethal Company goes through the roof overnight on Steam – and in Early Access!

Even developer Zeekerss was amazed when his game suddenly went viral overnight with 100,000 simultaneous players: Lethal Company is currently among the Top 10 most-played games on Steam and is only just behind big players like CoD: Modern Warfare 3 or GTA 5.

The horror multiplayer has been in Early Access since October 23, 2023 and the number of players has increased almost tenfold since then – a real breakthrough for a small game in the horror genre!

What is Lethal Company about?

In this survival horror you work for a space company known to you simply as “The Company” (or The Company). Your task is kept simple: Collect enough scrap metal in space.

To do this, you travel to abandoned moons that are occupied by dangerous monsters – otherwise the game would just be a simulation about collecting scrap. If you like a thrill, you are welcome to embark on a solo journey. But the most fun comes when you start the missions together with your friends. You can get a first impression in the following trailer:

While you’re searching for scrap metal alone or with up to three friends, you’re guaranteed to come across some monsters with different characteristics. These can be scanned and added to your beast book à la “Fantastic Beasts”. This will teach you the best way to avoid each type

Or you can use the information to bait your unsuspecting friends while you collect the required scrap at your leisure. You can always come to their aid to complete the level together. But a little schadenfreude never killed anyone … did it?

Indie horror is celebrated “extremely positively” on Steam

Just a few days ago, the developer of the horror hit Zeekerss posted on X about the game’s recent success:

While I was sleeping, Lethal Company broke the 100,000 player mark. Unbelievable, thanks for playing. It will be a lot of fun to release updates for the game.

Lethal Company has managed to get (over 100,000 players simultaneously) in front of their screens. The 97 percent extremely positive ratings (on Steam) also speak volumes. And that so soon after its launch in Early Access.

The social component of the new horror game seems to be particularly well received: “I’ve never had so much fun and fear at the same time in my life,” says user (M4sslxx) in the comments.

The reviewer (CrowTRobot2112) also shares his experience in the game, in which he showed full physical commitment in vain: “I was beaten to death with a shovel and was then called lazy by my boss.” Maybe he’ll manage to convince his boss in the next run-through

Have you played Lethal Company yourself? If so, do you like it? What have been your scariest moments so far? Which moon is your favorite place to be? And generally speaking, do you think the hype is appropriate? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments, we’re curious!
