A big bang at the end of the year

The year 2023 is coming to an end. For its battle royale shooter, developer Respawn has once again come up with something very special for video game fans for the farewell party

Fortnite and its developer Epic Games have shown the way: countless brands that have nothing to do with the game have already appeared in the virtual world of the popular battle royale.

Just yesterday, the next big collabo went online with the newly released LEGO mode. Rocket League, for example, has already implemented the popular Netflix series into its game with a Stranger Things event in the form of skins or other in-game cosmetics.

Now the next big (eSports) title, Apex Legends, is preparing to launch a crossover with another globally popular game. At the end of the year or in the spring of next year, the world of Final Fantasy is set to make its way onto Stormpoint, Broken Moon and co.

Final Fantasy x Apex Legends

In an announcement trailer released last night, developer Respawn gives us our first glimpse of the upcoming event.

In the short clip you can see Crypto, Horizon and Wraith standing around the iconic Buster Sword from Final Fantasy and discussing its origins. After Crypto pulls the sword out of the ground, the scenery changes and the three legends resemble characters from the Final Fantasy universe. Apparently a small hint that the content of the event will include FF-style skins.

It’s a win-win situation for both franchises. Apex gives fans of the Final Fantasy series the opportunity to live out their fanhood in the Battle Royale, Square Enix, the FF developer, is about to release Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (February 29, 2024) and can use the event in Apex Legends to once again drum up a lot of publicity

The event itself is scheduled to start on January 9th
