Blindfire is a new shooter that takes place in complete darkness. Instead of good aiming, tactical skill is the key to success.

With Blindfire, Double Eleven is venturing into new territory and, after parting ways with Paradox Interactive, is presenting an exciting idea: a tactical multiplayer shooter that takes place entirely in the dark.

After working on Prison Architect; this is the studio’s first original title, and Blindfire is now trying to shake up the shooter genre with its unique mechanics.

Tactics, not just blasting

In Blindfire (on Steam), up to eight players compete against each other in an arena shrouded in total darkness Here, it is not your mere aiming that decides victory or defeat, but rather the skillful handling of the difficult viewing conditions.

Instead of frantic action, the focus is on a slow, tactical way of playing, in which the so-called echo system is the center of attention. With this, you can briefly scan your surroundings to locate opponents.

But be careful: Each shot reveals your position through muzzle flash and noise, which makes the game an exciting game of cat and mouse.

But the darkness in Blindfire is not eternal As the rounds progress, the arena is gradually illuminated – first at the edges, then in the center. This dynamic lighting system forces you to continuously adapt your strategies. Those who camp in a corner for too long will be mercilessly driven out of their hiding place and forced to face the fight.

The central game mode, Bodycount, offers both deathmatch and team variants. The goal: to collect the most points in five rounds. Points are awarded not only for kills, but also for particularly skillful play, such as headshots or surviving without taking any damage.

Another interesting feature: If you get shot down, you’re not completely out of the game. You get access to night vision cameras and can activate traps to continue influencing the match and maybe even take revenge on your conqueror.

At the start of the early access version, only two weapons are initially available, a shotgun and a pistol. But Double Eleven has already announced that more weapons will be added as development continues. The focus, however, remains on tactical play – victory here comes from clever maneuvers, not from the biggest gun. Blindfire is now available on Steam for $9.
