Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is a unique game about delusions and the struggle with oneself. It’s available at a particularly good price right now

Few games venture as deep into the human psyche as Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. The developers wanted to portray what schizophrenia, panic states and depression feel like as believably as possible.

They packed the whole thing into a dark, Nordic-inspired fantasy setting – and the result was a great story game that has received a lot of praise and will soon be getting a sequel. If you’ve missed it so far and would like to catch up, now would be the ideal time: You can get the game extremely cheap on Steam right now.

Why Hellblade is particularly worthwhile right now

Offer on Steam: Hellblade: Senua’s Saga is 90 percent off on Steam until January 25 and costs just 3 euros. For this you get an emotional, dark, but also incredibly hopeful action adventure that will keep you busy for around ten hours.

In our test, you can read about the strengths of the game that convinced us and the minor gameplay weaknesses you should expect, such as frequent backtracking and longer walking distances.

Follow-up is just around the corner: Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 will be released on May 21, 2024 for PC and Xbox X/S. Once again you control Senua, this time in a graphically impressive version of Iceland. Her inner voices still accompany her, which is impressively shown in this trailer:

Developers Ninja Theory want to go one better everywhere: The soundtrack comes from the Nordic folk band Heilung, among others, the graphics look frightfully beautiful thanks to Unreal Engine 5 and the revised combat system is supposed to be more dynamic and fun. You can find out how well this works in our test.

Have you already played the first Hellblade or are you taking advantage of the current Steam offer to catch up? Are you already eagerly awaiting the sequel, which is due to be released in a few months and, according to the developers, will be bigger, better and more beautiful? Or does the series leave you completely cold? Let us know in the comments below:
