Battlebit Remastered relies 99 percent on Battlefield gameplay and is already moving a mass of interested people.
It was actually just a biting comment on the broken release state of Battlefield 2042, but the interest in Battlebit is so great that the developers are moving on. The shooter relies almost entirely on the gameplay of Battlefield.
The whole thing looks like a version of Lego mutated into a shooter due to the low-poly optics, so it can”t offer much graphically. Instead, there are huge lobbies and large-scale destruction of the game world.
And Tens of thousands are already waiting for the Early Access release on Steam. On the wish lists, the indie shooter ranks in the global top 30 with around 65,000 notations (via SteamDB).
And that”s why we”re going to introduce you to the game in more detail!
What is Battlebit Remastered?
The multiplayer shooter offers practically one-to-one the experience that Battlefield has always stood for. In the gameplay trailer, you”ll see target-based gunfire, powerful tanks, long-range rocket launcher hits, medics in action and more:
The most important features at a glance
On Steam, the developers summarize the key features of Battlebit Remastered as follows:
- Large lobbies: Games are played with up to 254 players. Smaller modes like 64vs64 or 8vs8 are also included. Map sizes adjust to the number of players to make battles
fluid and immersive
. - Soldier classes: Meanwhile, as in Battlefield 2042, there are classes that perform specific tasks. They are called Assault, Medic, Engineer, Support and Recon.
- Vehicles: There are tanks, jeeps, boats and planes. It is not clear whether the airplanes can also be controlled by themselves or whether they can only be called in as air support.
- At least 35 weapons to choose from: They can be adapted to your own play style with various attachments. The soldiers can also be configured to your liking.
- Destructible environments: In Battlebit, you should be able to reduce almost the entire battlefield to rubble. Due to the minimalistic technology, this should remain comparatively hardware-friendly.
What else is important?
Battlebit Remastered is scheduled to be released in the second quarter of 2023 initially in Early Access. It will not be a Free2Play game and relies on a purchase price, although this has not yet been communicated. Currently, the developers plan not to raise the price even after the full release. However, this could be overturned, as can be read on (Steam)
The Early Access phase of Battlebit is expected to last about two years. In the time new content such as maps and weapons shall be added. In addition, a hardcore mode is to come, which requires more thoughtful action.
Editorial Conclusion
Although Battlefield 2042 has now overcome most of the teething troubles and missing features have been added, the catastrophic release remained on the tongue of many as a bitter aftertaste. The player numbers could only recover slightly despite new seasons and content.
Since competition stimulates business, I”m looking towards Battlebit with interest. What started out as a spartan-looking tease is already taking quite a decent shape in trailers. Let”s see if the half-finished product will soon play as smoothly and quickly as it seems.
Honestly, as much as I enjoy playing Ground War in CoD Warzone 2, it doesn”t really feel like Battlefield. And since 2042 has run out of steam after 240 hours, I could definitely use a real alternative. Whether Battlebit can be that, however, it still has to prove.
