In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, you meet the Kanien’kehá:ka in Vinland and don’t understand a word they say. Fans have now taken the trouble to translate the language.
If you travel to Vinland in Ubisoft’s Viking epic Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, you’re likely to understand nothing there. Because the language spoken by the natives there is not translated in the game. Fans of the action adventure have now taken on this task.
Now you can understand the Mohawk in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
What is that language? In the course of the story of AC Valhalla, you reach Vinland and meet the Kanien’kehá:ka people, also known as Mohawk. They speak their own language, which is not translated even in subtitles. What the Native Americans speak to each other therefore remains a secret for the time being.
The reason for this is that you as a player should feel just as lost and helpless as the hero Eivor, who also doesn’t understand a word of what the people are saying.
However, players would still like to know what the Kanien’kehá:ka are talking about. That is why fans have set about translating the language via the website Access The Animus. Incidentally, this is not a fantasy language that Ubisoft has invented, but a real Mohawk language.
Together with the Kanien’kehá:ka Onkwawén:na Raotitióhkwa Language and Cultural Center, the players produced a translation of the dialogue that you can hear – and read via subtitles. You can see exactly what is being said in this video:
The dialogue makes it clear that the Kanien’kehá:ka distrust Eivor and want to get rid of him. If you know what the Mohawk are saying, you can also take a secret fishing mission and listen to an interesting story around the campfire.
You’ll even discover links to Assassin’s Creed Rogue and Assassin’s Creed 3.
The Kanien’kehá:ka language is not the only one to crack in the game. You can also learn the Isu language;
With the translation of Access The Animus and the Kanien’kehá:ka Onkwawén:na Raotitióhkwa Language and Cultural Center, you finally know what the Kanien’kehá:ka speak to each other when you encounter them in AC Valhalla.
