Lethal Company has been given an entertaining spider filter that’s worth trying even if you’re not afraid of creepy-crawlies
The cooperative horror game Lethal Company is (currently going through the roof on Steam). And it could be even more successful if it weren’t for the disgusting and creepy spiders. But developer Zeekerss already has a solution to the problem: Probably the funniest filter in a horror game ever
Spider
or just against
?
Horror games are supposed to be scary or at least disgusting, but not everyone tolerates them equally well. While some people walk through the gates of hell laughing, for others the fun stops as soon as they flick the light switch. One of the most common fears is arachnophobia, i.e. the fear of spiders
A filter for spiders: In Lethal Company, you’ll make your way through abandoned buildings and stations in search of scrap metal that you can then sell. There you will also come across giant spiders. To make the game more accessible for arachnophobes, Zeekerss has included an optional spider filter. But just take a look for yourself:
lethal making a “arachnophobia mode” that just turns the spider into the WORD spider is the funniest shit ive seen from this game fuckk pic.twitter.com/ddA3ZdNLSb

As you can see, the spider is simply replaced by the written word Spider
, i.e. English for Spider
While the survival game Grounded for example, distorts the nasty creepy-crawlies beyond recognition, in Lethal Company you have to deal with an entry from the English vocabulary book.
Entertaining practice: It only gets really funny when you use the filter yourself. If the spider is standing at a corner, the name may be partially obscured So you won’t see a Spider
, but only a ider
But be careful: If you feed because you think that a ider
is no danger, you will be proven wrong when you have a clear view of the monster.

If you’re afraid of both spiders and English lessons, you won’t have an easy time with Lethal Company. But with the spider filter, the co-op horror has already become much more accessible (and fun).
What do you think of the spider filter? Are you an arachnophobe yourself or don’t you mind the eight-legged beasts at all? Do you play Lethal Company or are you planning to? If so, will you be using the spider filter? Do you have any other ideas to make the game more accessible? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
