Amazon is about to secure the rights to a “Mass Effect” series. Looks like big things are in store for fans.

The last few years have been pretty lucky for fans in terms of series based on video games. Whether it’s Witcher, the DOTA series or most recently the global success Arcane to League of Legends, which is breaking all ratings records – times are rosy. Now, by all accounts, fans can look forward to the adaptation of another legendary video game series: Mass Effect.

What has been revealed?

A report from Deadline reveals that Amazon is “close to closing a deal” to create a series based on the Mass Effect universe. Amazon has done a number of sci-fi series in the past, most recently being responsible for creating the final seasons of the hit The Expanse.”

Or you can choose individual areas of the universe, such as the dubious station Omega, with its disreputable nightclubs and flourishing drug scene.

The possibilities are countless and due to the complexity of the universe there is virtually free choice to set a starting point and thus tell an exciting story.

When is the series coming?

Since the deal is not yet in the bag, we can only speculate. It will certainly take several years – because it usually takes several years from securing the rights to writing the story, casting the actors and the actual filming. So fans should be patient and probably not expect a release in the next 2 or 3 years.

Mass Effect already had a film planned: It is also interesting that this news comes shortly after it was announced that there will be no film for Mass Effect. Studio Legendary has been trying to find a suitable spin for a film since 2010 – but it seemed difficult to capture an adequate story from the rich universe in just 90 to 120 minutes. Something they already stumbled on with Warcraft
