The new movie Avatar: The Way of Water has been officially announced. However, the question remains open as to when the new Avatar video game from publisher Ubisoft will be released. There is, however, information that gives hope.

Over a hundred million people worldwide have seen the trailer of the long-awaited film Avatar 2 in the first 24 hours. The sequel to the 2009 blockbuster will be released in German cinemas in December and is called Avatar: The Way of Water. In the gaming scene, the announced film release is fuelling new hopes for the video game Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

While the game trailer at E3 2021 caused quite a stir, further information about Ubisoft’s action adventure game remained scarce. However, the release date for the game now seems to manifest itself. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is scheduled to be released by 31 March 2023. The same applies to other Ubisoft productions such as Mario + Rabbid Sparks of Hope and Skull & Bones.

The information comes from Ubisoft’s ( Quarterly Report ), which was released on Wednesday. It states, among other things: “For 2022 – 23, we are targeting a return to significant revenue growth. It will be driven primarily by a diverse line-up of premium games, including Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope and Skull & Bones, as well as other exciting titles. “ Because the fiscal year runs until March 31, games must be released by that date at the latest. The information again does not rule out the possibility of the new Avatar title being released this year.

The concrete release date of the new Avatar game is still unknown, but the period has been concretised for the time being. On the (official homepage of Ubisoft) the year 2022 is still listed as the release date for the Avatar game, which will be available for the latest game consoles such as PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Google Stadia. Accordingly, it remains an open question whether the title might be released at the end of the year after all, when the movie release is due on 14 December. From a business point of view, game releases in December are generally less optimal because the timing is too close to Christmas and the main business for the holidays takes place in the preceding months.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is a first-person perspective action adventure game being developed by Massive Entertainment. The Ubisoft studio is working with Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney.
