The survival horror Alan Wake 2 shows a 45-minute demo at gamescom. But if you’re not on site, here’s at least 14 minutes of gameplay.

After 13 years he is about to return: Alan Wake 2 will be released on 27 October 2023, but you can already take a close look at 14 minutes of gameplay. In the course of gamescom a demo of the horror action is circulating, GamersPrey has published some excerpts of it now.

Only the atmosphere can’t be fully conveyed due to the overdubbed interview, but it still gives a good impression of the look of the game.

But beware: If you want to approach the game completely blind, you might want to skip this video. Although nothing explicit is revealed, there are clips of story cutscenes in the video. You have been warned!

What can be seen in the video?

In keeping with the old tradition, the eponymous writer walks through dark, eerie areas for the most part, dodging ominous shadows. Armed with a torch and a pistol, the main character can also defend himself against these ghostly creatures – things get a bit more action-packed at minute 10:10, for example.

Aparticularly atmospheric is the underground at minute 7:05, whereby the many, more or less subtle Grafittis (4:27) are also nice details.

Unusual It gets unusual towards the end at minute 11:58, when Alan Wake switches from the video game look to small film sequences – this seems to upset even the author. But regardless of whether it’s a film or a game: Alan Wake 2 looks great, especially in 4K the horror game is something to behold!

What is Alan Wake 2 about?

The sequel to 2010’s Alan Wake takes place exactly 13 years after the events of the first game – in other words, exactly as long as the game is now old. Moreover, Mr Wake is no longer our only playable main character; FBI agent Saga Anderson is also closely interwoven into the plot. You can check out a bit of gameplay from her point of view right here:

While Anderson is trying to solve a murder case, Wake is struggling to escape the eerie Dark Place.

Alan Wake 2 will be released on 27 October 2023 for Playstation 5, Xbox Series X|S, as well as PC.

Are you already looking forward to Alan Wake 2 or did the first game leave you cold? And what do you think of the change between in-game graphics and real film sequences? Does it fit in well with Alan Wake or is it more of a nuisance? Feel free to write us your opinion in the comments!
