After the Giga Potato, ATS is getting its next major project. In the Wyoming DLC, you’ll be heading for a giant rest stop in the future.

Big, Bigger, American Truck Simulator. Since its release in February 2016, the simulation has received numerous updates and DLCs. Currently, two map expansions, Texas and Wyoming, are in development and the developers keep providing insights into the upcoming content.

The $16 Million Rest Area

While the scale of the map in ATS is not to scale, the developers at SCS Software keep adding highlights and points of interest in some places. In one of the upcoming DLCs, the map will be expanded to include the US state of Wyoming in the western USA.

In addition to wide plains, the Rocky Mountains and part of the famous Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming has a special sight for truckers: a $16 million rest area.

The rest area shows visitors the best that Wyoming has to offer: The rest area is special: with the Southeast Wyoming Welcome Center built on site, a facility was created to “show visitors the best Wyoming has to offer”. The rest area is located on Interstate 25 between Denver and the capital Cheyenne.

Completed in 2012, officials say it was the largest public investment in tourism infrastructure in decades at the time.

After the Giga Potato, an Idaho landmark, has already found its way into the game, it’s no surprise that Wyoming’s most famous rest stop is now following suit. In the official blog post, the developers from SCS Software also provide an answer as to why the rest area, of all things, will be a highlight of the new DLC:

“We know that rest stops are just as important to a trucker’s story as driving on the road itself. So hopefully these areas will provide the comfort needed to continue the journey that you will be able to fully experience in the upcoming Wyoming DLC. ”

When will the Wyoming DLC be released?

So far there is no release date for the new DLC. However, the Wyoming and Texas DLC has been in development for some time and is “overdue”. Overdue because so far the developers have been releasing new map expansions for American Truck Simulator at intervals of about six months.

What else awaits you in the DLC: Wyoming, as already mentioned, is not only known for its expensive rest area. Historic weigh stations also make truckers’ hearts beat faster. During the trip, you will also visit other sights in the state, such as the Rocky Mountains or parts of Yellowstone National Park.

You can get a first impression of the new DLC in the developers’ gameplay video:
