Dragon’s Dogma has multiplied its player numbers on Steam in the last few days. There are two main reasons for this

Over eight years have passed since the release of the PC version of Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen the role-playing game was first released for consoles four years earlier. For a few days now the number of players of the title has risen abruptly, on Sunday there were even over 10,000 active players But what is the reason for this sudden popularity?

Preparing for the successor

The fact that so many fans are returning to the rather old game at the same time is probably due in no small part to the upcoming release of its successor  Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be released on March 22, 2024 for PC and consoles.

In addition to significantly more elaborate graphics, the new role-playing game naturally also has a number of new features

In addition to the anticipation of the predecessor, a big Steam discount is also likely to help make Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen so popular. The role-playing game is now 84 percent cheaper and costs a little less than 5 euros.

If you don’t have time to play the extensive campaign of the role-playing game before the sequel is released, you can start with a small part of Dragon’s Dogma 2 now. The developers have already made the character editor available free of charge. You can build a character here and use it in the game when it is released

Even without the rest of the role-playing game, players already have a lot of fun with the editor. As it offers an exceptionally wide range of options, it can be used to recreate famous heroes as well as terrifying monsters:

If you’ve already played through Dark Arisen but don’t fancy a second playthrough, we can help you out. In his video, Fritz shows you 17 game campaigns that will keep you busy and have a lot of fun.

But if you’d rather wait patiently for Dragon’s Dogma 2, then read our news on why you should think carefully about important decisions in the game.
