Sony is releasing a new update for the PlayStation 5 that is like a journey through time across the entire history of consoles.

On December 3, 1994, Sony launched the first PlayStation on the Japanese market. What followed in the thirty years that followed can be aptly described as “success”. Accordingly, Sony is not missing out on the opportunity to incorporate some innovations for its products on the occasion of the 30th anniversary.

While the PlayStation portal is getting a feature that has been missing since the release and some limited editions of accessories are coming along aside from the sold-out anniversary edition of the PS5, there is an update for the PlayStation 5 (Pro) to marvel at from today.

  • After installation, you can customize various animations and design elements of the interface – and that to the familiar designs of all Sony consoles, from the first PlayStation to the PS4.
  • Of course, Sony is paying special attention to the PS One to celebrate the day, and the boot process has been faithfully reproduced:

In the settings, you can choose which of Sony’s interfaces you want to use for your PlayStation 5.

The catch: According to Sony, these designs will only be available for a limited time, but no date has been given for the end of the promotion.

At the same time, the official Sony channel on YouTube published a video that reviews the last three decades of console history:

Regarding the fact that Sony ends the shown games with Bloodborne with the words “it’s about tenacity,” while we are still waiting for a remake of the FromSoftware game, we’d rather say nothing at this point and instead congratulate PlayStation on its birthday.

Now we want to hear about your experiences: What was your favorite PlayStation generation and why? Will you use the PS5 update to change your design? What was your biggest Sony highlight from thirty years of PlayStation history? Does it appear in Soy’s anniversary video? Let us know in the comments and feel free to share which moments you still remember today.
