A massive data leak on Twitch reveals the payouts of almost all streamers:inside. Here’s what influencers have to say.

Twitch’s data breach on Tuesday night was the biggest information leak in the streaming site’s history. Information on the site’s source code was released along with viewership metrics and revenue from nearly all of the platform’s active streamers:

Amidst the mass of data made public were Twitch’s direct payouts, i.e. how much money was paid out to each streamer:in. Many viewers shared the list of content creators on which they were ranked according to their monthly payouts. After this huge event, some of the streamer:ins have started to comment on it.

Are the numbers even true?

Popular WoW streamer Asmongold addressed the situation in his stream shortly after the leak. Many have debated the legitimacy of the list’s alleged payout numbers. While various sources “confirmed” the accuracy of the numbers, Asmongold disagreed. The MMORPG veteran stated that his number on the list was inaccurate and dismissed the leak’s claims.

It is important to keep in mind that the alleged ranking released from the leaks only includes Twitch’s payouts and subs, without taking into account donations and sponsors. Imane “Pokimane” Anys seemed to imply in her statement that her numbers were correct. She stated in a tweet that now “at least people can’t exaggerate that I would make millions a month from my viewers. ”

Pokimane restricted donations to their channel last year. Fans can now donate a maximum of US$5. In a response to the above tweet, she explained that she was at a point where sponsors and contracts could sustain her business. That subs are now her lowest source of income explains her rather low ranking on the list.
After a lengthy streaming hiatus, Matthew “Mizkif” Rinaudo returned to Twitter on the very day of the data breach, offering a touch of humour in the midst of the massive controversy: “Probably a bad day to announce I got a sponsorship…”.
