It has long been unofficially known that Ubisoft is working on the next Assassin’s Creed instalment, which will revolve around Basim. Now the publisher has let the cat out of the bag and officially revealed the rumoured Assassin’s Creed Mirage (formerly known under the codename “Rift”). Along the way, there’s also a first image that already tells us a few infos and a teaser of what to expect.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is official and showing off soon

In a (Twitter post) we can catch our first glimpse of the next Assassin’s Creed title. Not only is the name Mirage officially confirmed, but also a first image of the game is shown. Here you can have a look at it directly:

The picture already tells us a lot about the new title. It clearly shows a young assassin who strongly resembles Basim and the setting also looks Arabic to Near Eastern – which would fit with earlier rumours that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be set in Baghdad. The game’s official logo is also seen for the first time, and bears strong similarities to a leaked image that may have already revealed a quest for the game!

More info to follow soon
Whether the assassin is really Basim and the game is supposed to be released in early 2023, as rumoured from leaks, is unfortunately left open by the creators. But we shouldn’t have to wait too long for new information, because Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be presented in more detail at Ubisoft Forward on 10 September at 9 pm.

How trustworthy is the leak?

Jonathan is considered a reliable source in the Assassin’s Creed community: In the past, he has correctly predicted the cross-over between AC Odyssey and AC Valhalla. Likewise, before the release of Valhalla, he shared some information that proved to be correct – such as that the Hidden Blade will return or that the main character will not be called Jora, but Eivor.

Jason Schreier, who is considered one of the most important sources of insider information, also commented on Jonathan’s leak:

According to Schreier, many details of the new leak are said to be true: These include the release date in spring 2023, the Baghdad setting and the return of the gameplay to the roots of the series. Again, it is said not to be true that you will be able to explore different cities.

And what about you? Are you looking forward to a return to the Middle East or would you rather have seen a different setting? And will you miss the role-playing elements? Drop us a line in the comments.
