80 watt hours is an announcement. The performance should also be a little better

A new leak has probably revealed the most important specs of the new Asus ROG Ally X. One highlight is the gigantic battery with 80 Wh.

Why this is important:All PC handhelds available today have one weakness in common: battery life – especially when playing power-hungry games. It is not uncommon for such titles to last less than two hours. The new handheld from Asus could be a game changer in this respect.

In detail:The new leak comes fromVideocardz, who were able to catch a glimpse of an official-looking product sheet

An overview of the new features compared to its predecessor:

Doubled battery capacity:The first ROG Ally had a relatively small battery when compared to the competition. And although the battery is twice the size of its predecessor, the weight of the device has only increased by 70 grams:

The performance should also be a little better:The RAM has grown by 8 GB and is now just as fast as that of the Lenovo Legion Go. Incidentally, this also means that you can use 8 GB as dedicated video memory, for example, and still have 16 GB left over as RAM memory

Upgrade the SSD more easily:The M2. 2280 SSD form factor is also used in large desktop PCs. So you don’t have to buy the small 2230 SSDs that are installed in most of today’s handheld PCs

USB 4.0 allows conventional eGPUs: If you want to connect an external graphics card to the Asus ROG Ally, you previously had to use Asus’ proprietary peripherals. With the new USB 4.0 port, conventional eGPUs should also be able to be connected.

Release and price:The Asus ROG Ally X will be presented at Computex on June 2. The price is not yet known, but an amount of 800 euros is in the room.

What do you think of the improvements of the Asus ROG Ally X? Will you be getting the handheld? Do you have the predecessor and are you happy with it? Or are there obvious improvements that you think are urgently needed that have not yet been mentioned in this leak? Let us know in the comments!
