Wait a minute. Did Thor’s Fortnite session in Avengers: Endgame actually spoil a twist for the Battle Royale’s latest season?
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a world of superheroes, gods, magic and … Fortnite spoilers? You read that right. Right now, many a fan is convinced: Avengers: Endgame predicted the future four years ago! But what’s it all about? Let’s start from the beginning.
How Bro Thor deals with his trauma
If you need a little memory refresher: In Endgame the (surviving) Avengers face the consequences of their defeat by Thanos in Infinity War . Each of the heroes deals differently with their trauma and the loss of countless friends, relatives and acquaintances.
Thor (Chris Hemsworth), for example, falls into a deep depression and develops a rather unhealthy relationship with alcohol and excessive eating. Moreover, how does the god of thunder pass his time in a small cottage in New Asgard? Exactly: Playing Fortnite and arguing with strangers over the multiplayer lobby.
Avengers: Endgame’s Fortnite session at the time of its theatrical release also caused eye-rolling among connoisseurs of the game. Because Endgame is actually set in the year 2023, while the gameplay in the film shows the (perceived) ancient Chapter 1 map of Fortnite.
And anyone who has ever played Fortnite knows: With almost every new season or chapter there is a new map or at least significant changes to it. So the fact that Thor is still playing the map from Chapter 1 in 2023 is pretty much nonsense … isn’t it?
Did Endgame spoil Fortnite four years ago?
Let’s get to the big twist in the tale: Because Fortnite’s latest chapter, Chapter 4 Season 5, is currently waiting in the wings, and it’s actually supposed to be a big fan dream come true by bringing back the map from Chapter 1!
Speculation has been swirling around this for months, but with the new teasers and leaks for Chapter 4 Season 5 and the Fortnitemares 2023 event, there is finally certainty. How the return of the map is explained in Fortnite lore?
According to the Fortnite expert (Shiina) the vampire boss enemy Kado Throne’s time travel machine is supposed to go out of control and bring not only the old map but also weapons to the present. By the way, a clear teaser for this already exists in the official promo material for the upcoming Fortnite content:

By the way, there is another nice detail: The scene with Thor, Korg, Meek and co. in Avengers: Endgame actually takes place in October 2023. Since Chapter 4 Season 5 is scheduled to start on November 3, 2023, it doesn’t completely overlap, but it still comes pretty darn close.
Coincidence? Probably not. The developers at Epic should be absolutely aware of the parallel.
