What’s in the PS5 version of Baldur’s Gate 3?

All updates of the PC version: The PS5 version is identical in content to the PC version – and that has tangible advantages in this case.

Despite the gigantic success of Baldur’s Gate 3 the PC version was still plagued by a number of bugs and problems at launch, which we also have to take into account in the GlobalESportNews review of Baldur’s Gate 3 . Many of them will be fixed in the PS5 version for the release in September, as Larian is already diligently patching on PC.

And all of these improvements and bug fixes will end up directly in the PS5 version, as Larian’s Publishing Director Michael Douse recently announced:

This is how much game time is offered: Game time and story length are not expected to change in the console version. Developer Larian estimates 75 to 100 hours for an average playthrough. If you want to see everything, you should plan around 200 for your visit to Faerûn. With Baldur’s Gate 3 you can expect a true monster role-playing game.

  • Normal playthrough: 75 to 100 hours.
  • Full run: 200 hours

You can enjoy the game alone in single player or in co-op (also split screen) with your friends. If you play with others, the game time should increase considerably. Due to the many decisions in the course of the story, Baldur’s Gate 3 also offers a very high replay value.

How well does Baldur’s Gate 3 play on console?

Baldur’s Gate 3 controls great even with controller. Patches have also cleared up several major bugs, however an annoying sound bug plagues the PS5 version.

Is Baldur’s Gate 3 also coming to the Xbox Series X/S?

Short and sweet: Yes. At the moment, Xbox players are still left out in the cold when it comes to Baldur’s Gate 3, but that is set to change soon. As the developer Larian announced at the end of August, a version for the Xbox series consoles will be released in 2023

Like the PS5 version, the Xbox is said to include all the improvements and features of the PC version – with one exception. Players with a Xbox Series S will have to do without split-screen co-op According to Larian, the mode is simply not feasible for the weaker Xbox version.

Cross-platform saves from the Xbox should also be playable with the PC version. But you can’t transfer saves between Playstation 5 and Xbox.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is taking the gaming world by storm right now. Reddit and social media are full of posts from impatient fans who can hardly wait for the PS5 release because they can hear the enthusiastic cheers of their PC colleagues. What about you? Are you also waiting for the PS5 version? Or do you play the game on PC anyway?
