During the panel From Hell: 5th Edition, the contents of the patch 7: Absolute Frenzy, which will be released today, were announced. Among them the barbarian, new features and more.
Unfortunately we don’t have a fixed release date for Baldur’s Gate 3 for you yet. But the developers of Larian Studios announced the seventh major patch “Absolute Frenzy” in their livestream today, which is now available for all Early Access buyers.
In addition to many improvements, changes and additions, the patch brings you the new Barbarian class and the “Improvised Weapons” feature. In addition, the new “Fog of War” will disguise still unexplored rooms. Adjustments to Darkvision and Light/Dark-Detection allow for more effective stealth gameplay.
You can read the full patch notes with further details (on Steam).
What new features does Patch 7 bring?
Besides the big announcement of a new class, there are also many smaller features hidden in the new update. The most important new features at a glance:
- New class: The barbarian is a new melee fighter who is driven by his rage. He has two subclasses: As a Wildheart, you choose a so-called Bestial Heart, which protects you, guides you and also gifts you with various combat abilities. The Berserker is completely on his own and trusts only his unbridled rage. If you fall into a frenzy, you will also receive two new bonus actions that will put the fear of God into your opponents.
- Improvised Weapons: From now on, almost anything has the potential to become a deadly weapon. Characters can now lift items that are three times their respective Strength value.
- Throwing Weapons: With Patch 7, you will receive a variety of weapons that you can throw around. You can now use daggers, spears and hand axes
- UI-Revamp: Baldur’s Gate 3’s new HUD will be sleeker, more modern and easier to use.
- New Magic Loot: A variety of new Magic Loot will be found within Faerun. Including helmets, gloves, to Lightning-charged Tridents that promise all their wearers a great stat boost, buff or additional perk
- Improved cutscenes: Over 700 cutscenes have been improved in detail to provide an even better gameplay experience.
- Exploration: The perception of light and dark areas has been reworked, as has the representation of darkvision. In addition, unexplored rooms will henceforth be equipped with dark barriers to prevent objects and characters from being seen in advance.
We will provide a complete overview of all changes as soon as the patch notes are published.
