After years of secret work, Camouflaj has announced the release of its new game “Batman: Arkham Shadow”, which will be released exclusively for Meta Quest 3 later this year. The studio is working closely with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC to bring fans of the Arkham series an authentic new chapter.
“The prospect of writing a new chapter in this storied franchise is exciting and a great honor”, said Ryan Payton, CEO of Camouflaj The studio is committed to building on and continuing the foundation laid by Rocksteady Studios
The game will utilize the immersive magic of virtual reality technology to create a unique Arkham experience. Camouflaj can draw on its eight years of experience in the development of VR games. Batman: Arkham Shadow is the studio’s biggest project to date and its second as part of Oculus Studios, following the success of Marvel’s Iron Man VR in 2022.
Ratcatcher as a possible villain
The trailer for the game suggests that the villain Ratcatcher will play a central role in Batman: Arkham Shadow. However, the details remain a secret for now
The Ratcatcher is a villain from the Batman universe and appears in the DC comics. His real name is Otis Flannegan, and he is a former ratcatcher from Gotham City. In the comics, he is portrayed as a character with a dark past. As a Ratcatcher, Flannegan has the ability to control rats, which he uses to carry out criminal activities, including burglaries and assaults. He also has a tendency to lure his victims into underground rat nests, adding even more menacing aspects to his criminal reputation.
We can’t wait to see how the villain will be integrated into the Arkham franchise.
Payton expresses his excitement about working with Meta, emphasizing that being a first-party studio has allowed Camouflaj to create high-quality and meaningful games. This studio title is just the beginning of the Batman: Arkham Shadow journey, with more details to be revealed in the coming months.
Until then, the team continues to work on delivering the best possible Arkham experience that Meta Quest 3 has to offer. “We are grateful for Camouflaj’s support over the years,” Payton concluded.
During the Summer Game Fest on June 7 , Meta and Camouflaj will unveil the cinematic trailer.
