A popular map from Battlefield: Bad Company 2 could return in BF2042. The hint of this comes from DICE themselves
Are we in for a true classic in Battlefield 2042? Developer DICE apparently hints at the return of a popular map. Users on Reddit noticed that a distorted teaser image for the EA Play event bears a striking resemblance to the Valparaiso map.
Originally from Battlefield: Bad Company 2, the map is set on a paradisiacal coast in Chile and is one of the brand’s most popular levels. We have known that the return of Valparaiso would not be too much of a surprise since the new mode was advertised as a kind of “declaration of love to the fans”.
On Reddit, you can find the teaser (spotted by user “VickeP_”) that appears to show the Valparaiso waterfront in Battlefield 2042:
I used photoshop average the frames from the in-game teaser. Anyone recognize this map? from battlefield2042
For illustration purposes, the fan also compared the image with the corresponding scene from the original map. The comparison shows clear overlaps:

If it comes as suspected, this would be a confirmation of the rumours that Battlefield 2042’s still unknown mode could be a collection of classic maps and gameplay.
We don’t have to wait too much longer for clarity anyway: EA Play runs on Thursday 22 July at 7pm. Find out how you can watch in our article on the EA Play.
Fans are already celebrating the info
In the Battlefield 2042 subreddit, fans are showing excitement about the possible return of Valparaiso. The implication that DICE could release a mode full of favourites is also sparking anticipation among many gamers.
