There are still many unanswered questions about Battlefield 2042’s new game mode Hazard Zone. A data miner could now bring more light into the darkness with his discoveries.

Hazard Zone of Battlefield 2042 will not be a battle royale. Instead, the game mode is supposed to go more in the direction of Hunt: Showdown or Escape from Tarkov. This means that several teams of players try to fulfil the same goal on a map, while AI opponents and fellow players get in their way.

Now new information about Hazard Zone has been leaked. The dataminer temporyal has collected some gameplay details about the game mode on Twitter, which give us a clearer picture.

Note, however: This is not officially confirmed information! All details could therefore be seen until the final release of Battlefield 2042 on 22. October 2021 change.

The Great Hazard Zone Mystery

What a Dataminer reveals about the game mode

We’ve rounded up the most important details temporyal pulled on Hazard Zone from Battlefield 2042’s game data:

How Hazard Zone starts: After an info screen we are dropped onto the map by Little Bird helicopter. Then the actual mission starts

Finding and collecting targets: We will probably find crashed satellites to secure their hard drives. It is not known if there will be different mission objectives

AI enemies and bosses: In the Hazard Zone, AI enemies patrol the map, use vehicles and tanks such as the Jaguar EBRC or HDT Storm, and are able to call in reinforcements to parachute in. Optional bosses should bring additional rewards.

Equipment can be lost: Equipment you use in Hazard Zone can apparently be lost. This is pointed out by a “Loadout Insurance”, which we can use to counteract too big losses.

Own game currency: The game data talks about a “Hazard Zone currency”. We will probably use it to buy new weapons, attachments, gadgets and perks.

Supply stations deliver ammunition and gadgets: There are probably supply stations all over the maps where you can replenish your ammunition and get gadgets from vehicles. According to temporyal, at least the robot dog “Ranger” and the armoured car HDT Storm can be ordered. The supply stations could also serve as respawn options.

Extraction by helicopter: If we want to leave the Hazard Zone, an extraction point must be captured and activated so that we can be picked up by helicopter. This should attract attention and alert our (AI) opponents. Extractions can also fail, which will likely drastically reduce earned currency and experience points.

No extra maps: There are probably no dedicated maps for Hazard Zone. Instead, known maps from the multiplayer will be recycled and probably minimally adapted. According to temporyal Hazard Zone should already be playable on Orbital.

Tactical upgrades for Hazard Zone: temporyal also provides an overview of possible upgrades for us and our squad. For the most part, they are quite classic, such as more ammunition, additional respawn possibilities, more space for gadgets or faster healing. You can get an overview in the following tweet.

It remains to be seen whether the gameplay details extracted by temporyal will end up in the same way in the finished Hazard Zone of Battlefield 2042. The information seems at least coherent and reminds – as many suspected and speculated – strongly of Hunt: Showdown, Escape from Tarkov or the Dark Zone from The Division.
