During the latest edition of the Nintendo Direct, we were already able to marvel at some gameplay scenes from Bayonetta 3. Following the stream, Nintendo revealed yet another gameplay deep dive explaining the battle system.
The gameplay is now available for download.
In her latest adventure, the umbra witch Bayonetta must protect the world from the eerie bioweapons called Homunkuli. To make sure she succeeds, the new trailer introduces a new combat skillset that lets you dominate the battle.
With melee attacks and the use of firearms, you can create powerful combos that cause additional damage to your opponents. If you also manage to dodge enemy attacks at the right moment, you unlock witch time, which slows down everything around you.
To inflict even more damage on your enemies, you can summon hell demons that you can control. However, you should keep an eye on Bayonetta, as the witch is defenceless against attacks during this time. You can also use your demon henchmen to further strengthen your combos.
The most powerful ability in Bayonetta 3 is the Demon Masquerade. When Bayonetta is in this state, not only can she add extra power to her attacks. She can also perform a number of special attacks. This way, you can give even the strongest opponent a run for their money.
Viola – A new heroine in the making
In Bayonetta 3, however, you won’t just be playing the popular Umbra Witch. You will also be able to take on the role of Viola, the witch-in-training. She uses her katana and magic mountain arrows to inflict damage on her opponents. Their witch time is activated by well-timed blocking of attacks
In addition, she can summon the cat demon Cheshire living to her katana to assist her in attacks. While Cheshire is active, Viola cannot fight with her weapons and cannot use witch time.
Last but not least, you can customise Bayonetta 3’s gameplay experience to suit your needs at any time. Apart from the three available difficulty levels, the immortality puppet mode is also available. In this mode, the combat system is greatly simplified. This will benefit all those who would rather experience the story instead of struggling with battles for a long time.
Bayonetta 3 will be released on 28 October for the Nintendo Switch. The action adventure game (can be pre-ordered now).
