Pearl Abyss, the Korean developer and publisher, has announced in a developer commentary that the first major expansion of Black Desert in 2023, the “Land of Morning Light”, will be released on June 14. In an extensive livestream, the upcoming content of the game was also presented at the same time. Thus we also know when exactly Land of Morning Light will be released and a little later the new Wusa class will be playable. On 31 May the time has come!

Explore the Land of Morning Light

The latest expansion for Black Desert Online takes adventurers on a dangerous journey through the mythical Land of Morning Light. There they can explore breathtaking landscapes with detailed architecture and unique flora. Unique bosses with customisable difficulty levels also await them. The in-depth story is told through non-linear questlines with 80 cutscenes, 40 vignettes and 6,000 lines set to music.

“We want adventurers to experience the Korean Middle Ages, including architecture, clothing, mythology, and the joys and sorrows of life,” said Jaehee Kim, Executive Producer of Black Desert Online. “We believe that adventures in a new region should not be the same as those in existing regions. Players can now enjoy each story with a sense of immersion, similar to reading a fairy tale or novel.” Additionally, 2 new classes will be added to Land of Morning Light. The twin classes Wusa and Maegu are from the Land of Morning Light and will soon receive their new evolved classes. They offer a new look, new talents and combat abilities.

Fights mythical bosses

The impressive bosses from the Land of Morning Light are references to various Korean legends and folklore. Each boss has one of three attributes: sun, moon or earth, which affect your AP and DP.

As you progress, you will receive a limited number of Light Jewels. These jewels help players boost Sun, Moon or Earth attributes, deal more damage to bosses and reduce incoming damage. The Pearl Abyss team has also developed an all-new boss. The monster Imoogi will be released on 14 June.

Players worldwide can also discover a new challenge, a mode called “Boss Subjugation”. Players can select an appropriate boss to defeat on a customised difficulty level. There are levels 1 to 10 for the “Calamity” difficulty levels. After defeating the boss, players compete against others in a ranking system. The best scores are based on how fast players defeated the boss and are categorised by character class.

New equipment and accessories

The long-awaited equipment set “Dahn’s Gloves” will also be part of Land of Morning Light. This equipment has two versions: Damage Reduction and Evasion. When a wild boss is defeated, there is a small chance that Dahn’s Glove will be obtained as loot. It can also be crafted using materials such as Flame of Hongik, which is also dropped by bosses, or Crystallized Despairs from Elvia Calpheon.

The Taebaek Belt offers a special option where new talents are automatically activated as soon as the equipment is put on. When players defeat bosses, there is a small but sure chance of receiving a special loot called “Illusion Jewel”. The long-awaited Deboreka’s Earring not only has inherited attributes, but also plays a role in activating the Deboreka 3-Set Effect.

New Summer Season

In keeping with the new content, Pearl Abyss is wasting no time in offering players good reasons to return to Black Desert Online. This includes a new summer season. Adventurers can already create seasonal characters and complete challenges to obtain the 8th Gen Female Horse. They can also quickly try the Resurrection of the Magnificence Horse and secure a Mystic Horse. The mystic horse allows players to efficiently travel through the vast world of Black Desert.
