The return of BlizzCon promises exciting announcements and surprises. What does Blizzard have in store for its loyal community?
Blizzard invites you to the big fan festival again: BlizzCon 2026 will take place on September 12 and 13 at the Anaheim Convention Center. After a longer break, the event is returning, and we have the first details for you.
A comeback with big ambitions
BlizzCon has a long tradition – since 2005, Blizzard has been celebrating its games, its community and, of course, big announcements here. But in recent years, things have been quiet around the event.
The last regular BlizzCon in presence took place in 2019, before the pandemic caused cancellations and digital replacement events. In 2023, the trade fair returned in physical form, albeit with a slimmed-down program – this was not particularly well received at the time:
Now Blizzard wants to go all out again: For 2026, the company promises not only the usual highlights such as the opening ceremony, deeper insights into development, the Darkmoon Faire, and community contests, but also new elements to make the event even more spectacular.
No details are available yet, but Blizzard is talking about an event that is “worthy of the community” – which sounds like a major comeback.
What can we expect?
Of course, the question is what announcements Blizzard has in store for BlizzCon 2026. A first big reveal is likely to be World of Warcraft’s next add-on, which will presumably be released in late 2026 or early 2027. There could also be news about Diablo 4, Overwatch 2 or maybe even a completely new project.
Since Microsoft has now taken over Blizzard, it also remains to be seen whether and how BlizzCon will change under the new leadership. Maybe there will be good news for all Gamepass subscribers.
When will tickets be available?
Blizzard has not yet released any information about ticket sales. If you want to be sure of getting tickets, you can register at BlizzCon.com to ensure you don’t miss any updates.
Whether Blizzard’s cult convention can build on its previous successes will likely depend largely on what surprises the publisher has in store. A Warcraft 4 could inspire boundless enthusiasm among fans and make the event a real milestone – while disappointments à la Diablo Immortal would be more likely to cause long faces.
