Earlier this week Gearbox had announced crossplay on all platforms for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. Randy Pitchford, president of the developer studio, had already not ruled out crossplay for Borderlands 3 at that time. Now publisher 2K confirms this feature on its (website).
Since 24 June last year, PC and Xbox gamers have been able to enter the loot and shoot chaos of Borderlands 3 together. PlayStation gamers have unfortunately only been able to play among themselves. Why this has been the case until now, we still don’t know. But the time of exclusion seems to be over soon. In a post on crossplay for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, 2K also talks about Borderlands 3.
The post states: Also, crossplay for Borderlands 3 will be available on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 in the future, allowing you to play with your friends on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Mac, Stadia and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
However, the post does not clarify whether a Borderlands 3 cross-play update will coincide with the release of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. After all, it is not certain how much time the developers will need for the cross-play changeover. So it’s smart not to say anything for the time being, so as not to raise false hopes in the fans should complications arise.
