It’s getting close to Christmas and many PS5 hunters are hoping to get their hands on a console from mail-order giant Amazon just before the festive season. But for weeks there has been a yawning void here. In November and so far in December, no Sony PS5 has been sold on Amazon. Many fans are already desperate, but is this just the wait for a mega-drop just before Christmas? We tell you what the current supply chances are on Amazon.
PS5 buy: Amazon could be in for a big resupply this week
This is the current situation: At the moment, things are looking pretty lousy at Amazon. The last consoles were available here on 27 October. So for one and a half months, there was no replenishment. This is particularly surprising for Amazon, because in the months before the mail-order giant always brought new consoles at least once a month. The current long dry spell is absolutely unique. When could there be a replenishment? Basically, it could be any day now. Virtually all Expert:innen are certain that Amazon will sell the PS5 at least once before Christmas. That seems logical, because the Christmas business is particularly lucrative and other European countries have already been supplied with PS5s by Amazon.
In the past, the drops at Amazon always took place on Wednesday or Friday. Wednesday in particular was a popular day. So you should keep an eye on 15 December and 22 December in particular. Especially 15 December seems to be plausible, because then the consoles will arrive in time for Christmas. The usual times of the drops have been between 8:30am and 10:30am.
In the meantime, there is even speculation that this drop will be really big and Amazon will fire from all cannons again shortly before Christmas. The biggest competitors in Germany, MediaMarkt and Saturn, already proved last week that such drops are possible. PS5 consoles were available there for a relatively long time, which indicates a huge drop. So Amazon could still follow suit.

Take these preparations: Amazon always showed the same picture in the last months. Prime members were given priority and mostly got the only PS5 consoles available. So you should definitely have a Prime membership if you want to order the PS5 from Amazon.
Also, Prime members will receive a message a short time before a drop at Amazon. It says: “Order a PlayStation 5 sold and shipped by Amazon now and get a PlayStation Now membership (1 month) for free.” This is effectively the harbinger before a drop. When customers receive a message like this, the PS5 is usually available for purchase shortly afterwards. So keep an eye out for this message in your mailbox.
