According to insider Tom Henderson, the next CoD will be a full release after all. It will reportedly be released in November and will once again feature a beta
Call of Duty 2023 continues to raise questions: Will it be an expansion or a completely new part of the series? For a long time, credible leaks claimed that this year, for once, there would not be a full release, but only an expansion of CoD Modern Warfare 2.
But now a well-known insider contradicts himself: Activision”s plans are said to have changed – he also claims to already know the exact release date.
Who is the source of the info? Tom Henderson has been following Call of Duty for a long time and has leaked a lot of accurate info in the past, most recently about Modern Warfare 2. He has proven to have insider sources, but emphasises himself that developments can change and only official info is final.
CoD 2023 has not yet been officially announced, but according to publisher Activision, a “full premium release” is on the cards this year.
This is what the insider says about the alleged 2023 release
According to Henderson, concrete release dates have already been set, following a similar pattern to Modern Warfare 2 2022. According to this, there will again be advance access to the campaign and two beta weekends:
- 1st beta weekend (PlayStation-exclusive) 6 – 10 October 2023
- 2nd Beta Weekend (all platforms) 12 – 16 October 2023
- Preliminary Campaign Access 2 November 2023
- Final Release 10 November 2023
Exclusive – Call of Duty 2023 Will Have a Beta, Campaign Early Access, and Morehttps://t.co/9KFjConkH3
– Tom Henderson (@_Tom_Henderson_) February 9, 2023
Beware: Even if these are really the dates that the developers are currently using as a guide, a release can still be delayed several times internally until then.
For which platforms will CoD be released in 2023?
Thrilling: (According to Henderson) the next Call of Duty should also be accessible for LastGen consoles, i.e. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Who is developing the next CoD?
Henderson also believes that the next Call of Duty will be developed by Sledgehammer Games , information also confirmed by well-known journalist Jason Schreier. Most recently, the studio was primarily responsible for CoD Vanguard.
Will it be Modern Warfare 3?
According to Henderson, the next CoD will be very closely linked to Modern Warfare 2 presumably a direct successor. He says he does not yet know whether the title will be Modern Warfare 3, and the name has not yet been decided internally. So be prepared (with due scepticism) for another outing with Captain Price, Ghost, Soap and Co. The story of Task Force 141 is already being continued in the co-op raids of MW2:
Why no addon after all?
This question comes up a lot in the comments on Twitter. After all, several insiders have reported in unison that there will not be a full release in 2023. Jason Schreier comments on this and explains that this was originally the plan. Treyarch is supposed to release a completely new CoD in 2024, but Sledgehammer”s 2023 release is now also referred to as a full release. Schreier wants to write another report about this back and forth.
What will happen with Modern Warfare 2? It”s unclear if a full new 2023 release will affect MW2”s multiplayer support or if the alleged Ghost spinoff will still appear.
Do you believe in a full release for the next Call of Duty? Would you prefer a breather with more content for Modern Warfare 2, such as more multiplayer content or campaign DLC? We”d love to hear your opinions in the comments.
