To celebrate the sixth anniversary of the popular platformer Celeste, the developers are bringing the game into the third dimension
Developer Maddy Makes Games celebrates the sixth anniversary of Celeste and releases a free spinoff of the 2D platformer.
In Celeste64: Fragments of the Mountain you can even jump in three dimensions. The best thing: You don’t even have to be the biggest fans of Celeste, if you like classic platformers like Super Mario 64, you’ll also get your money’s worth
Free spin-off of Celeste
As the name Celeste64 suggests, the game is based on the era of the Nintendo 64, but is still played on the PC As the developers announced via X (formerly Twitter), the little gift can be downloaded via itch.io

As in the original, you can climb, jump and use a dash, during which the protagonist Madeline’s hair turns from red to blue as usual.
You complete jumping puzzles to collect strawberries and can also talk to other characters. A certain old woman continues to delight me with crude jokes. Incidentally, the story picks up after the end of the main game
You shouldn’t expect too much content, the game was developed by the Celeste team in just over a week It’s simply a “little hearty 3D platformer “ to celebrate the anniversary.
What’s next?
Maddy Makes Games has already been working on a new game for three years. Earthblade will be a 2D action game with a pixel look. A first trailer was released at the end of 2022.
The trailer at least reveals a rough release period, as the game is set to be released in 2024. There is no exact date yet.
Celeste64 may not be a replacement, but it is a good opportunity to return to the world of the popular indie hit. Have you played Celeste in recent years? Are you looking forward to the developers’ new game? Let us know in the comments:
