The developers of Chernobylite want us to travel to the Ukrainian nuclear power plant again in 2025, but with a few new features

Although Stalker 2 is expected to be released this year, we will also be able to take a new trip to the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone in 2025. A successor to the popular survival shooter Chernobylite has now been announced in a short trailer. Chernobylite 2 will be released sometime next year for PC and consoles and is likely to have a few new features in store

Open world and giant monsters

The biggest innovation is that we can explore a large open world in Chernobylite 2. In the predecessor, however, we only made short trips to smaller areas. You can get a first impression of the new game world in the trailer:

At first glance at the trailer, it is also noticeable that Chernobylite 2 also differs in tone from its darker, more grounded predecessor. The game world seems more diverse and we are up against new monsters such as giant spiders or even excavators that have come to life. We can also specialize in melee weapons in combat

On Steam, the developers also reveal more details about the clearly ambitious successor to Chernobylite:

  • As a planewalker traveling through different realities, we search for the eponymous chernobylite in the exclusion zone. This has now spread across the entire area, changing it considerably in places.
  • Chernobylite 2 also seems to rely on role-playing elements. We can develop our character with skills and values that determine our success in battles and dialogs. Apparently, we can also switch between different characters if necessary.
  • As in the previous game, we can once again look for allies and put together our own team. They then carry out important tasks in our base, such as procuring supplies and upgrading equipment.
  • We can form alliances with various factions and fight with them against monsters or other groups.
  • Chernobylite 2 is once again a single-player game, but there are also co-op missions that you can complete together with friends.
