It”s been a whole 17 years since a game in the Commandos series was last released. However, while Strike Force from 2006 strayed quite far from the gameplay of the first games, they want to release a real
Commandos again in 2024. Origins shall, as the name suggests, tell the story of the origin of the powerful special forces.
What is known about Origins?
Commandos: Origins was only announced on 5 October 2023 with a short reveal trailer that you can watch on YouTube . However, there is already some information about the scope, gameplay and features, which we summarise here:
- Story: Origins is about the origins of the special unit known from the predecessors. You experience how the six characters meet for the first time and lead them to victory against the Nazi forces.
- Gameplay: In the missions, you will lead your team of six through enemy camps, using tactics to go unnoticed. Each mission can be completed in different ways. You can hide, climb or steer vehicles. In addition to primary objectives, you can also complete optional additional tasks.
- Scope: More than ten campaign missions will take you to the most diverse fronts of the Second World War. From the eternal ice of the Arctic, to the deserts of North Africa and underground submarine bases, there”s plenty on offer.
- Multiplayer: If you need support, you can also play in co-op mode with two other players. You can play multiplayer either online or locally in split screen.
That”s all we know about the new Commandos so far. The tactics game is expected to be released in 2024, but there is no exact release date yet. Those who are interested can already put the title on their (wish list on Steam)
