The next big Cyberpunk 2077 patch is supposedly about to be released. We explain why you shouldn’t get too excited too early
Fans of Cyberpunk 2077 are currently waiting for the next big patch. CD Projekt RED has not yet revealed what new content Update 1.3 will bring, but at least the list of the most frequently reported bugs already hints at one or two things.
Currently, many websites are reporting that the release is now supposed to be imminent – however, this is merely poorly thought-out marketing.
Confusion about big Cyberpunk update
What happened? On various platforms, such as Instagram and YouTube, many people have been shown promotional trailers for an upcoming Cyberpunk patch since 7 July. The videos talk about the biggest update so far and that much more is to come. Many fans are therefore expecting a release of patch 1.3 soon.
This is behind the promotional videos: When asked by Eurogamer.pl, CD Projekt denied all reports and rumours about the hypothetical biggest update and emphasised that all news from various gaming websites about it are untrue.
According to the developers, the promotional videos are merely a marketing campaign to remind players of Update 1.2 and the fact that Cyberpunk 2077 is available for purchase in the various online stores for PC, Xbox and PlayStation players. Information on future updates should continue to be released via the official website rather than, say, Instagram ads.
You can’t blame the hopeful players though because update 1.2 was already released at the end of March. So to market it with a new advertising campaign more than three months after its release is quite confusing – especially for fans who have been waiting for the next content patch for a while.
When will Patch 1.3 be released? There is no official release date yet. In her article about the upcoming update, our cyberpunk expert Elena expects a release at the beginning of August.
