With Phantom Liberty Cyberpunk 2077 receives a comprehensive expansion that drastically changes the gameplay and numerous gameplay mechanics. Recent reveals at gamescom 2023 bring fresh glimpses of the expansion, including a new gameplay trailer
In the run-up to the release of the extensive story expansion for Cyberpunk 2077, Phantom Liberty, new insights and information were presented during Opening Night Live at gamescom 2023 . A three-minute trailer gives us a glimpse at new abilities, weapons and other new features CD Projekt Red is aiming for in the extensive redesign of the cybperunk action RPG.
The developers use the trailer to introduce a variety of changes coming with the release of Phantom Liberty in just three minutes. Some aspects of these changes were already known in advance. Now, however, details are revealed that reveal the extent of the overhaul. As part of the expansion, players can expect:
- Exploration of an entirely new district with dozens of quests. More information on the new storyline is available here.
- The ability to shoot from vehicles and use mounted weapons. In addition, vehicles can be controlled by remote control.
- The introduction of new vehicles, clothing, cyberware and weapons.
In addition, the trailer includes the following new features:
- A revision of the police system.
- Improvements in the behaviour of the AI during battles.
- Reworked and redesigned skills and cyberware. Some of the new features discovered in the trailer are:
- The ability to deflect projectiles with a katana.
- The ability to do a quick air dash over several metres.
- The option to throw enemies at other enemies.
- New and extremely brutal finishers.
Furthermore, the Cyberpunk expansion Phantom Liberty will introduce a new relic skill tree and raise the level cap. Many of these new gameplay features should also be available in the base game of Cyberpunk 2077 as soon as update 2.0 is released. However, it was not yet specified at gamescom what exactly these will be. These changes promise great things in any case.
