Baldur’s Gate 3 is made for integrating various scenes from movies and television into the role-playing game in an amusing way – but rarely has it worked as well as here. In this clip, Danny DeVito in his role as Frank Reynolds from the US series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is infected by a parasite – just like the classic companions
Not only are the dialogs between Frank and the other characters impressively coherent and funny, but his actions could just as easily have been, or even partly were, decisions in the game. To put it in Frank’s words: Well, I don’t know how many years on this earth I got left. I’m gonna get real weird with it.
But before you watch the video right now, we have to issue a spoiler warning : These just under two minutes basically tell the quick version of Frank’s journey through the game – so the longer you watch, the bigger spoilers you can expect for the later acts.
Cult, just not in Germany: If you haven’t heard too much about It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, that’s not so surprising from a German perspective: there was hardly any way to watch the series in this country. In the USA, on the other hand, it has been a cult show for almost 20 years, and with 16 seasons to date, it is the longest-running American live-action sitcom – with two seasons still to come.
What’s it about? The series revolves around an unsuccessful bar and its owner, one character more unlikable and self-centered than the next. Danny DeVito’s role is no exception, and he complements the black humor of the series brilliantly. Even if you haven’t seen the series yet, some of the scenes will certainly be familiar to you: There are tons of memes from the series spreading in Germany too.
