This year”s D&D Direct had a few announcements in store: Game expansions, card packs, figures, books and even more to excite die-hard RPG fans. We summarise for you what”s going on in the world of Dungeons & Dragons right now.

Minecraft D&D
Minecraft transforms into a proper role-playing game with the DLC Dungeons & Dragons . Here comes a big thing for us, with skill trees and classes, a new user interface and much more. Plus, with Monstrous Compendium – Volume 3: Minecraft Creatures you can throw five classic Minecraft monsters like the Creeper into your D&D game world for free.
Neverwinter Menzoberranzan
Neverwinter has a new expansion with the simple name Menzoberranzan! It”s inspired by the book Legend of Drizzt, written by R. A. Salvatore. Menzoberranzan is already available.
D&D Virtual Tabletop Update
(Of course, the dice must not be missing in a tabletop game.)
New scenes were shown of the virtual tabletop game that is currently being worked on. It will probably be released on several platforms, there is no release date yet, but they hope that we will be able to play it this year.
Secret Lair Drop
(I wonder if Edgin would call himself a legendary creature?)
While Honor Among Thieves is currently in cinemas, Wizards of the Coast has a new Secret Lair drop. Included are six new cards, all based on the characters in the movie – so you”ll find fancy artwork of Edgin, Forge, Holga, Simon, Doric and Xenk. It”s quite possible that these will become extremely popular – the film has been extremely well received.
Hasbro figures
But that”s not the end of Honor Among Thieves. Hasbro announced a long time ago that they would be producing small figurines of the characters – but now we know a bit more: Among others, Xanathar, an owl bear and the Displacer Beast are included. More information is to come at the Hasbro Pulse Fanstream on 29 March.

The owl bear somehow manages to be scary and cute at the same time)
For those who like a snarling chest or a baby owl bear in their room, these new replicas from Wizkids are sure to please.
50th anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons
In 2024, the dungeons and dragons will be half a century old. To celebrate properly, a documentary about the inspiration and evolution of D&D.
What is yet to come
(There is no shortage of reading material for Dungeons&Dragons fans this year.)
Four books are still scheduled for release this year. You can see which ones they are and when they are to be published in the picture above. What is supposed to happen after 2023 is probably the return of Vecna – but we don”t know much more.
